Want to hear my soundtrack for The Strongest Steel?

Well you can, over on Spotify.

There are all kinds of songs on there because, well, Harper is a country-loving chick, and Trent's a metal kind-of-guy. Throw is a bit of writer's inspiration and Cuban influence, and you end up with a playlist that has something for everyone ... and some songs that are definitely NOT for everyone. There's one song that didn't make the list, because it's not on Spotify - but Tito and Tarantula's After Dark is one of my favorites.

Chan Chan – Compay Segundo

A phenomenal Cuban guitarist, singer and composer. Whenever I set a scene in the daytime in Miami, I’d pop his album on. This is one of his more famous songs.

Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You) – Kelly Clarkson

From Harper and Trent’s late night introduction at the tattoo shop, when Trent unwittingly admits he knows the Stronger song lyrics.

Bad Moon Rising – Creedence Clearwater Revival

This is playing on the jukebox at The Long Cue when Trent arrives to find Harper butchering a game of pool.

You Shook Me All Night Long - AC/DC

The lyrics Trent doesn’t use when he and Harper are sitting on the beach together after their first date.

The Final Episode – Asking Alexandria

The inspiration behind the English band Cujo and Trent go to see together. Trent’s thoughts about the vocals of the imaginary lead singer are based on the vocals of this song.
